05-07-2008 Crash

Occurred 5/7/08 at 1516 hours in the 1100 block of N. Reading Rd., Denver. Mark Horning, Red Run Rd., Stevens, was traveling southbound on N. Reading Rd. and stopped for traffic. Stephen Rissell, Wabash Rd., Ephrata, was traveling southbound behind Horning on his motorcycle and failed to see Horning stop for traffic and rearended Horning’s vehicle. A vehicle driven by Amy Youndt, Oriole Dr., Stevens, and Amber Filing, Country Dr., Denver, were traveling northbound on N. Reading Rd. and struck Rissell’s motorcycle. Rissell was transported to Ephrata Community Hospital for injuries and abrasions. (EC)

05-07-2008 Criminal MIschief

Occurred 5/7/08 at the Denver Park, 800 Main St., Denver. Unknown actors damaged toilet paper dispensers in the restrooms at the park. Several large rolls of toilet paper were also strewn about the restrooms. The approximate replacement cost for the dispenser is $75.00 and the replacement cost for the toilet paper is $25.00. (DB)

05-08-2008 Crash

Occurred 5/8/08 at 2306 hours in the 100 block of N. Line Rd., Stevens. Brandon Klopp, 21 years of age, E. Walnut St., Ephrata, was traveling northbound on N. Line Rd. and failed to negotiate a curve, exited the right shoulder and struck a utility pole/transformer, shearing the pole. The vehicle then flipped onto its roof. Klopp was wearing his seatbelt and multiple airbags deployed in his vehicle. Klopp was transported to Lancaster General Hospital where he was treated and released. Power was disrupted in the area for several hours. Charges are pending against Klopp. (EC)

05-09-2008 Crash

Occurred 5/9/08 at 1524 hours in the 300 block of Locust St., Denver. A vehicle driven by Austin M. Judiscak, Stevens Rd., Stevens, lost control on the wet roadway, hit a curb and broke the right rear wheel. No injuries. (DB)

05-09-2008 Crash

Occurred 5/9/08 at 1442 hours in the 100 block of Denver Rd., Denver. A vehicle driven by Brent Wilson, Beech St., Denver, was traveling southbound on Denver Rd., lost control, crossed into the opposite lane of travel and flipped. The driver and two occupants of the vehicle left the scene. The driver was located at 1600 hours. No injuries. Charges of Driving Vehicle at Safe Speed will be filed against Wilson. (EC)

05-09-2008 Crash

Occurred 5/9/08 at 2117 hours in the 100 block of Swamp Church Rd., Reinholds. Todd M. Swavely, 43 years of age, Mechanic St., Reinholds, was eastbound on Swamp Bridge Rd., and drove off the roadway hitting a culvert and then a utility pole. Swavely was transported to Reading Hospital Trauma Unit by Reinholds Ambulance. Charges are pending on Swavely. (WC) Crash/Fleeing & Eluding: Occurred 5/10/08 at 2324 hours in the 100 block of N. Line Rd., Stevens. Matthew Miller, 32 years of age, Hill Rd., Denver, passed a vehicle on N. Reading Rd. and failed to yield to an officer when a traffic stop was attempted. Miller eventually impacted with a utility pole on N. Line Rd. Miller was not injured. Miller will be charged with Fleeing & Eluding and multiple summary traffic violations. (EC)

05-11-2008 Criminal Mischief

Occurred 5/11/08 at approx. 0415 hours in the 400 block of Wabash Rd., Ephrata. Various windows were broken out of a mobile home owned by Josh Weber. There is no damage estimate at this time. (EC)
