03-08-2008 Investigation

The East Cocalico is currently investigating fraudulent activity occurring in the 300 block of Main Street, Denver in September of 2007. If anyone knows the identity of this individual please contact Detective Keith Neff of the East Cocalico Township Police Department at 717-336-1725

03-08-2008 Theft

Occurred between December 2007 and March 2008 at Adams Antiques, 2400 N. Reading Rd., Denver. A stand holder reported a gold ring valued at $3,500 was removed from a case. (EC)

03-03-2008 Criminal Mischief

Occurred March 3, 2008 in the 300 block of Jefferson Road, Adamstown. Victim reported two tires were cut on his car. Unknown replacement cost. (AB)

03-03-2008 Controlled Substance Violation

Occurred March 3, 2008 at 1257 hours at Cocalico High School, 800 S. 4th St., Denver. A 15 year old female from Reinholds is being charged with a Controlled Substance Violation after an incident at the Cocalico High School. (DB)

03-04-2008 Crash

Occurred Mach 4, 2008 at 1612 hours in the 1000 block of Steinmetz Rd., Denver. Kathryn Hirneisen, 79 years of age, Stobers Dam Rd., Stevens, was traveling eastbound and left the roadway, striking a guide wire. (WC)

03-04-2008 Crash

Occurred March 4, 2008 at 1822 hours at N. Reading Rd. and N. Muddy Creek Rd., Denver. Tricia Day, Linda Terrace, Ephrata was northbound on N. Reading Rd. and turned left in front of a vehicle traveling southbound on N. Reading Rd. operated by Nikolay Rumyantsev, Buckwheat Dr., Denver. The collision caused Day’s vehicle to spin into the path of a northbound vehicle operated by David Bentz, Misty Meadow Dr., Reinholds. Rumyantsev was taken to Ephrata Community Hospital for treatment. (EC)

03-04-2008 Theft

Occurred March 4, 2008 from the 200 block of Willow St., Adamstown. A sign advertising the Frankford Insurance Agency, 243 Willow St., Adamstown, was stolen. Sign is valued at $250.00. (AB)

03-08-2008 Arrest

Chad Michael Hertzler, 30 years of age, Hilldale Dr., Ephrata, was charged with Forgery and Theft by Deception as a result of an incident that occurred on February 16, 2008 at the Redner’s Quick Shoppe, 1304 N. Reading Rd., Stevens. In this incident Hertzler passed three counterfeit $20 bills for the purchase of merchandise. Hertzler was arraigned before MDJ Hamill and released on ROR bail. (EC)

03-03-2008 Theft

Occurred between March 3 and March 4, 2008 in the 500 block of Sandy Hill Rd., Denver. Unknown actors removed two tanks from a welding machine owned by Denver Logistics, 555A Sandy Hill Rd., Denver. The tanks are valued at $250.00 each. (WC)

03-06-2008 Possession Drug Paraphernalia

Occurred March 6, 2008 at 1307 hours in the first block of E. Church St., Reamstown. Officers were called to assist Lancaster County Probation and Parole officers. At that time Dana R. Gehret, 24 years of age, no permanent address, was found in possession of drug paraphernalia. Gehret was arraigned on charges of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia before MDJ Hamill and bail was set at $7,500 straight. Gehret was unable to post bail and was committed to Lancaster County Prison. 03-08-2008 Theft from Vehicle

Occurred between March 6 and March 7, 2008 at the Holiday Inn, 1 Denver Rd., Denver. A vehicle that was parked in the parking lot of the Holiday Inn had the driver side window smashed and a GPS system removed. The GPS system was valued at $350.00. (EC)

03-07-2008 Crash

Occurred March 7, 2008 at 1815 hours in the 2700 block of N. Reading Rd., Adamstown. Unit 1, operated by Kerry Wolfe, Denver, made a left hand turn onto N. Reading Rd. from Jason Ave. in front of Unit #2, operated by Adam Strunk, Reamstown, PA, which was traveling southbound on N. Reading Rd. In attempt to avoid the collision, Unit 2 swerved, leaving the roadway. Unit 2 impacted a telephone pole and a tree located off the roadway. The driver and passenger of Unit 2 had to be extricated by Denver Fire & Rescue. Both occupants of Unit 2 were transported to Reading Hospital. (AB)

03-08-2008 DUI Crash

Occurred March 8, 2008 at 2254 hours in the 1200 block of S. Cocalico Rd., Denver. Ronald Neely, 33 years of age, W. Burkholder Rd., Lititz, was southbound on S. Cocalico Road and failed to negotiate a curve, hit an embankment and his vehicle rolled onto the roof. Neely was not injured. Neely displayed signs of intoxication and failed Standardized Field Sobriety Tests. Neely was transported to Ephrata Community Hospital for a blood test. Test results indicated Neely had a BAC over the legal limit. Charges are pending against Neely. (WC)

03-08-2008 DUI Crash

Occurred march 8, 2008 at 2325 hours in the 500 block of Locust St., Denver. Keith Main, 34 years of age, Galen hall Rd., Reinholds was traveling southbound on Locust St. and rear ended a vehicle operated by William Boerstler, Denver. Main displayed signs of intoxication and failed Standardized Field Sobriety Tests. Main was transported to Ephrata Community Hospital for a blood test. Test results indicated Main had a BAC over the legal limit. Charges are pending against Main. (DB)

03-09-2008 Harassment

Occurred March 9, 2008 at 1606 hours in the 1200 block of Steinmetz Rd., Denver. Arrested: Scott Stiles, 43 years of age, Willow Dr., Ephrata. Stiles was observed by witnesses pushing the victim out of his vehicle that was stopped on the roadway and was then observed pushing the victim after they both exited the vehicle. Stiles also punched out the vehicle’s rear window. Stiles was cited with Harassment, Disorderly Conduct and Public Drunkenness. (WC)

03-10-2008 Crash

Crash: Occurred March 10, 2008 at 0648 hours in the 1200 block of N. Reading Rd., Stevens. Damian Fitterling, 20 years of age, Shire Lane, Wernersville, was traveling southbound on N. Reading Rd. and traveled across the northbound lane, striking a curb at the Reamstown Car Wash. The vehicle flipped onto its roof and continued to travel approx. 103 feet and struck a stone wall at Two Cousin’s Pizza, at which time the vehicle then flipped onto the driver’s side. Fitterling was transported to Reading Hospital for injuries. (EC)
