Press Release Week ending 01-19-2008

01-14-2008 Crash

Occurred 1/14/08 at 1500 hours in the 600 block of Reinholds Rd., Denver. A vehicle driven by a 17 year old from Denver was traveling westbound and lost control on the wet roadway, striking a D&E telephone pole. No injuries occurred to the driver or the two passengers in the vehicle. The vehicle was towed from the scene. (EC)

01-03-2008 Arrest

Jonathan Michael Schannauer, 18 years of age, Grouse Dr., Denver. Schannauer was stopped for going through a red traffic light on Main St. at 4th St. on 1/3/08 at 1819 hours. He displayed signs of impaired driving and failed Standardized Field Sobriety Tests. A blood test indicated he was under the influence of marijuana. He will be sent charges in the mail of DUI and Traffic Control Signals. (DB)

01-16-2008 Retail Theft

Occurred 1/16/08 at 1757 hours at Weaver Markets 2610 N. Reading Rd., Denver. Justin Rissmiller, 18 year of age, S. 4th St., Denver, was observed removing a drink from a shelf, enter the restroom area and exit without the drink. On investigation the empty drink container was found in the restroom. The individual then left the store without paying for the drink. Rissmiller was charged with Retail Theft. The value of the drink was approximately $1.49. (EC)

01-17-2008 Burglary

Occurred between 0200 and 0500 hours on 1/17/08 in the first block of Thistle Dr., Denver. Unknown actors forcefully entered a residence and removed cash from the residence in the amount of $5.00. (EC)

01-16-2008 Burglary

Occurred between 1/16/08 at 2230 hours and 1/17/08 at 0515 hours in the first block of Thistle Dr., Denver. Unknown actors entered the residence and removed miscellaneous items totaling $40.00. (EC)

01-17-2008 Burglary

Occurred between 0001 and 0400 hours on 1/17/08 in the first block of Cowpath Lane, Denver. Unknown actors gained entry through an unlocked door and removed a purse and two watches. Unknown value at this time. (EC)

01-16-2008 Theft from Vehicle

Occurred between 1/16/08 at 2130 hours and 1/17/08 at 0530 hours in the first block of Hayloft Dr., Denver. Unknown actors entered two unlocked vehicles and removed cash in the amount of $25.00. (EC)

01-17-2008 Crash

Occurred 1/17/08 at 1556 hours on Rt. 222 northbound. A vehicle driven by Mark Carcia, Denver, PA was northbound in the passing lane, lost control on the snow covered road and slid into the right lane hitting a tractor trailer operated by Douglas Larson, Winder, GA. Carcia was taken to Ephrata Community Hospital for various cuts to his face and head. (EC) Crash: Occurred 1/17/08 at 1601 hours in the 100 block of Line Road, Stevens. A vehicle driven by Christian Vargas, Cherry Street, Ephrata was northbound on Line Road and lost control on the snow covered roadway and struck a vehicle traveling southbound. The vehicle traveling southbound was driven by Barry Leach, Sunrise Circle, Denver. Two passengers in Carcia’s vehicle were transported to Lancaster General Hospital Trauma unit by Ephrata Ambulance. 01-17-2008 DUI Crash

Occurred 1/17/08 at 1848 hours at Brunners Grove Rd and Reinholds Rd., Reinholds. Ronald Hernley, 55 years of age, Creamery Rd., Reinholds, slid off the roadway and into a ditch. Hernley displayed obvious signs intoxication and was transported to Ephrata Community Hospital to be checked medically and for a blood test. Test results indicated Hernley had a BAC of .141%. Charges of DUI are pending against Hernley. (EC)

01-20-2008 Theft from Vehicle

Occurred 1/20/08 between 0001 and 0117 hours in the first block of N. Line Rd., Stevens. Unknown actors entered a vehicle and removed $200 cash. (WC)

01-20-2008 Harassment

Occurred between 0554 and 1110 hours on 1/20/08 in the 100 block of E. Main St, Adamstown. Colleen Conant, 38 years of age, E. Main St., Adamstown is being cited with summary Harassment after numerous incidents at the above location. (AB)
